Abstract

Preventing criminal propensity is one of the vital subjects in the fields of psychological and social sciences. In this regard, the role of social psychologists is crucial in preventing individuals who are at risk of criminal propensity. These psychologists strive to provide solutions for preventing criminal propensity by examining various factors such as social relationships, family dynamics, school environment, and economic conditions. This article investigates the position of these psychologists in this field and highlights the importance of their role in crime prevention. The main issue here is how social psychologists can play an effective role in preventing criminal propensity in today's society? Initially, the factors leading to criminal propensity need to be identified, followed by proposing solutions to reduce these factors and deter individuals from engaging in criminal activities. This includes raising awareness of social and psychological issues, strengthening social relationships, providing psychological and social services to at-risk individuals, and reforming social and legal policies. The main objective of this research is to examine and analyze the position of social psychologists in preventing criminal propensity. This article examines the relationship between psychologists and jurists in the field of crime prevention through an analytical-descriptive approach and research methodology through careful study and analysis of scientific articles, books, and relevant studies in this area. The research findings indicate that social psychologists, by providing solutions based on understanding the influential factors in criminal propensity, can play a significant role in preventing this phenomenon.
